Waiting by Phototamer by Phototamer

Usually the sea at this remote location is rough with waves and sea-spray , but this was one of those rare evenings that the sea was very calm and still , with a breeze creating small waves on the rocks. That gave me the opportunity to walk into the sea with my fisherman’s suit , and set my gear into the sea and near the shipwreck. If you are into landscape shooting then you are familiar with the scenario of great sky and mediocre composition or great composition and mediocre sky. In this occasion the sky was mediocre and the light flat due to the overcast sky and the more I waited the worst it became. the composition and water flowing from the rocks was nice though , so I decided to keep this frame and post process it to make it presentable đŸ™‚ . ………..technical information and processing details follow ……..Nikon D800 with Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 @ 14mm with Nisi 3 stop soft ND grad. exposure .. f/20 , 1 second , ISO 80. A single NEF file opened in camera Raw , basic adjustments…White balance , lens corrections , leveling and a darkening gradient added for the sky (sharpening and noise reduction set to zero) passed to Photoshop , noise removal with Topaz-denoise-5 , a Dodge and burn layer (empty layer filled with 50% gray set to softlight) was used to slightly lighten the flowing water ( with highlights from a luminosity mask used as a selection ) , a subtle selective saturation was added to the rocks , and a selective sharpening was added to rocks and flowing water. finally a vignette and a mild orton effect was added for a slight glow effect.
