A misty sunset over Lake Matese from the high ground known as Piana della Corte. This is the highest karst lake in Italy. It lies on the southern face of the Matese Massif, at the foothills of Mt. Miletto and Mt. Gallinola. In the image, a ledge of the latter peak dominates the scene and allows, in a clear day, to spot the Vesuvius and part of the Tyrrhenian coast. Nonetheless, a nebulous sky makes this place any less astonishing and epic.
