The Nub by RyanStout by RyanStout

I took my friend Shane on his first night photography session, and he couldn’t have picked a better night. This was at hyalite lake just south of Bozeman. The lake is really full right now, so an area I went to last year was completely flooded (picnic tables were partly under water) The only spot where we could see to the south was this 2″-2″ square surrounded by water on 3 sides. So we crammed our gear on top of each others, went to the car and waited for the milky way to get into position. I think this one takes the prize for calmest water I’ve ever seen. I’m not sure Shane dressed warm enough and he put his foot in the water at one point, but we survived. Really just an amazing night. Shane and I had a good time chatting about camera stuff while we were taking the pics.
