A photo of “Our Lady Of The Rocks” in the Bay of Kotor, an islet that was created by bulwark of rocks and by sinking old and seized ships loaded with rocks.
According to legend, the islet was made over the centuries by local seamen who kept an ancient oath after finding the icon of Madonna and Child on the rock in the sea on July 22, 1452.
The first known church was built on the islet in 1452 and in 1632 the present Church of “Our Lady of the Rocks” was built.
Regarding the long tradition and story behind this small islet, I saw a reason to take the photo from afar, to capture the stunning landscape that surrounds it and the islet itself, as it is an important part of the scenery.
I hope you enjoy the image.
