The first offering of summer storms provided rather lackluster light for a sunset, despite shaping up to look quite explosive. On this evening, I ventured out to an area I haven’t really explored much of. It certainly had that summer feel out there with the temps flirting in the 100’s and the humidity a little higher than normal. With it came small spurts of rain as showers passed overhead. They veered off deeper into the mountains as one could see the rain falling within the rugged spires and ridges. The view from this small ridge was quite wonderful allowing for a nearly 360 degree field of view of the surrounding landscape. The greens were popping, partly due to the recent rains, but even before the rains everything just looked so lush. Not quite something you associate with the desert. Despite the light not bursting through as I had hoped, the soft colors in the low clouds and rain were enough to give a slight color contrast to the scene. I certainly cannot wait to wander deeper into this area, it is quite impressive.
