5 Text Messages You Should Never Send

Have you seen the popular meme about not answering phone calls, because “you don’t use your phone for that”?
Apparently, more and more people are communicating via text messaging these days instead of initiating phone calls. While text messaging is fast, convenient, and easy, some conversations need to be face-to-face. There are situations where a text message can be misconstrued and cause more harm than intended.
Here are 5 text messages that will remind you of the proper text etiquette.
1. “We need to talk”
Receiving this text message can freak out your recipient. Our minds usually go to worst-case scenarios when we read statements like this. Depending on who you sent this message to, it can cause them a lot of unnecessary stress.

A girlfriend, for example, may think she’s getting dumped when she reads this text. An employee may think he’s getting fired and a child may think he’s in deep trouble.

If you want to give someone a heads up that you want to discuss something important later, choose your words wisely. Another good idea is to just wait until you can have an actual conversation with that person.
2. “It’s over”
Whatever your reason is, breaking up with someone via text message is extremely unacceptable. Sending a breakup text is cowardly, cold, and insensitive.

In any failing relationship, the other party deserves to know the reasons behind the breakup and have a formal closure. Although initiating a breakup is awkward and uncomfortable, it’s one of those times where you just have to bite the bullet and do it in person.

3. “Why are you mad at me?”
Avoid sending text messages that carry emotional weight to them. Tone and body language don’t come through in a text, which means the message can be misunderstood.
Feelings can get hurt if the person who receives the text takes it out of context or misconstrues your message. Conversations about arguments or sensitive subjects should be done in-person. If you truly want to sort out an issue, text messaging isn’t the best way to do so.
4. “Hey. Did you get my last text? Why aren’t you responding?”
Sending messages like this will make you look needy and desperate. If you are feeling insecure, this type of messages won’t help you at all.

Aside from creating the wrong impression on your end, the recipient may not like getting these messages either.If it’s been a while before you’ve heard from someone, it’s best if you can put your phone away and just stop checking it every two minutes. If a person is into you, he’ll find a way to respond as soon as he can.
5. “The silent text”

Regardless of whether you are not responding to the guy asking you out for a second date or are ignoring a friend’s request to help her move, completely ignoring a text message is simply rude.
These people will be waiting for you to text them back and they’ll be checking their phone frequently to make sure they haven’t missed your response. If you don’t want to do something, just be upfront and honest. It will allow the other person to move on quicker and stop annoying you.
Sending a text is generally easier than picking up the phone and starting a conversation. However, as convenient as it seems, make sure that you still follow proper text etiquette whenever you send someone a message. Keep your texting for what it was made for: easy, light-hearted communications that don’t have a lot of weight to them.
If you’re questioning whether or not you should send that text, it’s probably a better idea to just wait and reach out personally.

Tredje Natur, AART Architects and Arup Team Up to Create Copenhagen Island Development

TREDJE NATUR, AART Architects, and Arup have teamed up to create Kronløbsøen, an island development marking the transition between port and city in Nordhavn, Copenhagen. Composed of 30,000 square meters of housing, six water-rooms, a houseboat colony, harbor bath, and multi-story underwater parking, the project aims to create an island celebrating all aspects of harbor life.
Taking into account the local port’s spirit, scale, material palette, and history, Kronløbsøen is “composed of eight porous monoliths shaped by physical connections, visibility, and microclimate, creating the optimal conditions for housing and urban life.”

Description
More than one hundred Dutch designers, engineers and builders worked together on the scenography for nest. Tinker involved many other creative companies in the project, including Bruns (engineering and production) and Mansveld (AV and lighting technics).

The Swiss Concept Consult Architects renovated the industrial heritage site and covered it with a magnificent glass roof and steel construction. Underneath, Tinker designed a large, floating, organic world made up of white, flowing forms and containing a dozen playful exhibits. Also the first factory houses parts of the experience. The old bakery has given a new live as Café Henri and the original Villa became offices and event venue. The € 45 million experience nest (architecture and scenography) opened to visitors from 15 June 2016.

The big idea behind nest was simply to become more transparent and engage in an honest and involved dialogue about what the company stands for. Visitors will receive an interactive and personal look behind the scenes. They will accompany the enterprise on a journey through the past, present and future. Nestlé displays its diversity across five different zones, with ‘care, enjoy, improve & share’ as the motif.

An eye-catching feature in Piazza, the central atrium, is a life-size tree composed of more than 1200 flowers handmade from various product packages. From here people enter the historic factory building and start with Fondations: an authentic, timed attraction, which brings visitors back to when the company was established in the 19th century. The innovation here lies in the use of early cinema techniques developed during the same industrial age. By combining shadow plays, magic lanterns, ombres Chinoise and more, illusion becomes reality.

The next zone Zeitgeist is devoted to 150 years of history and links Nestlé’s products, images and stories to iconic moments in world history. The space occupies two storeys and is almost a museum in itself. Inside there is a magical treasure room with a selection of very special objects, such as the prototype for the first Nespresso machine.

Leaving the past we move to the present-day: Forum uses interactive ways to make visitors conscious of the social challenges in nutrition and health and appeals to collective responsibility. The actions of all of the visitors influence a surprising light installation at the heart of the room.

Visions is the grand finale of nest. It consists of a spectacular world under the glass roof and symbolises the future. Visitors experience the passion of scientists and their creative innovations through games and a VR experience. Children have their own discovery journey that leads them through nest.

One of the defining stories in British politics since 2010 has been the rise of insurgency parties. Ukip went from a party attracting under 1m votes (3.1%) in the general election six years ago to one getting 3.9m votes (12.6%) in 2015. The SNP transformed itself from a party that was seen as lucky to form a minority administration in Edinburgh to one that is now the unchallenged party of government in Scotland, with almost all the countries’ MPs. And, in a less dramatic way, the same trended boosted the Greens. In 2010 they got just 286,000 votes (1%). Last year they were up to 1.2m (3.8%.) and their leader, Natalie Bennett, achieved prominence because she was included in the TV debates.
But since then the Green party has collided with an obstacle – called Jeremy Corbyn. Corbyn’s purist, anti-capitalist, green-tinged radicalism overlaps to a considerable degree with the Green party’s policy platform. It is not just that Corbyn has an allotment; at the general election the Greens’ flagship policy proposal was for a citizen’s income , and Corbyn and his team are now actively considering whether Labour should adopt the idea. As a result the Greens start their autumn conference today in Birmingham facing the challenge of how to compete or coexist with a Corbynite Labour party that seems to be stealing their USP.
