Getting Over Your Ex 101

We’ve all had great relationships, and poor relationships. We know what happens when we quit, what happens when we stay, and how we feel after it. After all, we’re adults – we’re experts at it!

If that’s the case, how come it is still so hard for us to let go of our feelings for our ex? We all know the course of emotions, regret and why did I do that? feelings after the breakup, but every time it’s the same thing over and over again. We always wish for the days before, wonder why we acted or behaved a certain way, wonder when it was when we started changing and growing apart. We know it’s never going to go back, but we keep on dreaming about it. And for some reason, a couple of years later, we are always in a new position in life and wouldn’t even think about dreaming about going back. What an interesting situation!

How can you explain this repetition of life that we endure every time we break up with someone? It never seems to end once it’s happened but eventually it all ends, like falling asleep and waking up again.

It feels like it takes forever, but you know for sure that at some point someone new is going to enter your life. It happened before and it will happen again. This period feels like it takes forever. You were just with someone, used to their company for so long, and now you feel alone. But isn’t that what happened last time too? And you managed pretty well? And now you are here, in the future, meeting someone new, and maybe even more attractive. Imagine that!

2. There are a million more out there.

When I was younger I “survived” a particularly rough break up, and an older friend of mine was happy to remind me that there were in fact millions more girls out there. It didn’t take me long to realize that, because it’s basic fact! You might be in a small town now, or feel like you know everyone in your city, but it’s not true. The whole world is just teeming at the edges full of new people for you to meet, and call your own one day. You’ll just have to wait to meet them! It’s kind of exciting, isn’t it?

3. Remember how great freedom is?

Now is your chance! You are unhinged. Any little thing that your ex nagged you about, you can do actively to your heart’s content. Maybe your ex kept you in check, and balanced you out when you really needed it. That’s great, in short bursts – and now you have every day to be as weird and colourful and unique as you want to be. Dance in your house, listen to your worst CD’s and get that silly tattoo he always thought would look stupid. You are you and live for you. Don’t forget that!

4. Was it going to last forever?

It might be a summertime fling, a year of dating, or a five year engagement. All of which is just a blink of time in the span of our whole lives. When our grandparents were young they stayed together for a multitude of economic reasons, but in modern times we are unfortunately seeing the end of lifetime vows as people become more sustainably independent and open minded. We will statistically see less anniversary parties when we are elderly – and maybe it’s not a bad thing! By the time you will have turned 50 , 60, or 80 you will have met so many influential people who are coming in and out of your life, inspiring and changing you and guiding your life. Was that guy you w ere dating for two years really the be-all-end-all of relationships? If he was, I’m sorry – if not, well, looks like we still have a few more decades to find him!

5. Don’t be afraid of dating – or not dating.

Now that you’re single you will put a lot of pressure on yourself as to whether you should be seeing new people or not. Just stop worrying about it. Enjoy your own time, and wait for all your feelings to subside before you make any big choices that you will regret later.

If you chase after a butterfly in a field, it will fly away from you. But if you sit and wait in the grass, it might just land on your shoulder.

3 Healthy and Inexpensive Ways to Cope with Anxiety

Anxiety has been a huge part of my life. As someone who suffers from social anxiety, I struggle with feelings of anxiousness on almost a daily basis. These feelings of anxiety are often accompanied stress, feeling overwhelmed, and occasionally depression.

After struggling with an anxiety disorder for years, I have learned some effective ways of coping with my anxiety. As a college student, I don’t really have the money to invest in therapy or medication,but I have found ways to cope with my anxiety that are both effective and inexpensive.

1. Journaling

One of my favorite ways to cope with anxiety is to write in my journal. It is an effective way to vent your feelings out and let go of them at the same time.

Journaling will also help you get to know yourself better. Writing in your journal will help you learn more about your thought patterns and can even help you change negative ways of thinking.

What should you write in your journal? You should write about situations that make you feel anxious. You should also write about how you feel about these situations. You can rank how you are feeling on a scale from 1-10 if you find that helpful.

Writing down these things about your anxiety will help you identify why certain situations make you anxious and help you realize which patterns of thought trigger your anxiety.

If a journal sounds like too much work, check out Dr. Gazipura’s awareness log. It’s basically everything we’ve been talking about in one convenient place. It is a worksheet that makes it easy to describe situations that make you anxious and figure out your negative thought patterns in these situations. Keep in mind that this worksheet if for people who specifically have social anxiety, so it may not work as well for you as it has for me. But I think it’s worth mentioning nonetheless.

While journaling, you can also give yourself positive self-talk in written form. This is a great way to reinforce positive feelings toward yourself.

For example, if I am having trouble accepting myself I might write something like “although I am not perfect, I completely accept myself. I know that I am worthy of acceptance and love.”

I find it easier to give myself positive self-talk in the form of writing because it is easier to grasp when I see it written down. After you finish writing our your positive self-talk, it would be even more helpful if you read it out loud to yourself.

2. Meditation

Another way you can cope with anxiety is through meditation. I started practicing meditation a few months ago, and it has worked wonders for me.

It has helped me change the way I think and has helped me with some of the physical symptoms of my anxiety. For example, I often feel jittery or my heart will pound before entering a social situation, but if I meditate my jitters tend to disappear and my heart rate usually slows down.

Most of our anxiety is drawn from future worries. We are scared about the speech we are about to give or the plane we are about to board. Meditation helps us refocus our minds on the present moment, therefore relieving us of our anxious feelings.

Meditation helps us pull our attention away from our anxious thoughts and brings us back into the present.

3. Talking it Out

The best way to cope with anxiety is to simply talk it out with a close friend or family member.

This has proven to be most effective in my life. When I am feeling overwhelmed I like to call or text friends that understand what I’m going through and will listen to me.

Talking to a close friend or family member is a lot like journaling, just with a person on the other end. The people closest to you are deeply about you and their words of encouragement are often all you need to get out of an anxiety funk.

Being vulnerable is a huge risk and is extremely scary. But making yourself vulnerable is often the biggest step towards relieving your anxiety. You have to be able to accept the way you feel before you are able to change it. Talking about your anxiety is arguably the best way to do this.

It is important to note that you should not be simply venting about your symptoms or how much anxiety sucks, you should be talking about the anxiety itself. Doing your best to flesh out why you might feel this way and what patterns of thinking are causing your anxiety.

Being open about your anxiety is terrifying, and it takes great courage. Remember that there is no reason to be ashamed of your anxiety, it does not define you as a person. You are so much more than your anxiety.

5 Ways To Enjoy Life More

Sounds simple enough, right? Just enjoy life. Don’t we all want to be happy and cheery and live a life of joy? Well who wouldn’t? Yet for some, this is almost something that is seemingly next to impossible. Some of us have many struggles that seem to get in the way and come in the form of poor health, poor income, negative relationships (including marital) etc. It sometimes fee ls like it’s been one step forward, two steps back, day in and day out. Plain and simple, nothing ever go es right and there’s nothing to be happy about. How then is it possible to enjoy life?

Happiness can’t be bought and paid for. Happiness comes from inside though too many of us still think that if we had more money we’d be happy. Would you be? Quite possibly you’d be slightly happier but only for a short time is my guess. When we purchase happiness, it’s a band aid, a temporary fix to a larger deeper problem. But what’s the problem? Well only you will know what is keeping you from happiness and it may be time to find out exactly what they are. When you do that, you will certainly be able to enjoy life a whole lot more. In the meantime, here are a few ways to enjoy life more.

Simple, easy, fun, zero stress and so enjoyable. Why? What’s not to love about going to a butterfly garden or even just a field in your neighbourhood, admire butterflies and try to catch them?  See how many you can catch, if any at all. And when you finally do, take a moment to admire and enjoy its beauty.

2. Have a picnic by the lake.

Or a beach or any place that brings you joy. Pack a small light lunch or snacks, a blanket, a book and go relax and be in nature surrounded by all the beauty around you. It’s not only breathtaking, it’s also very soothing and relaxing. A total mind decompression if you will. No distractions, just the wind, the sights, and the freedom.

3. Take a walk in the park.

You’d be surprised how many new people you may meet, how many new things you may discover and how great the exercise is for you. You’ll feel better, have more energy, get a nice healthy dose of Vitamin D and maybe even make a new friend or two. Not into walking in the park? Go down to the lake or some other place that you love. Walking is a great way to chill out and enjoy life.

4. Join a club.

It could be a reading club, a chess club, a scrapbooking club or whatever hobby you have been enjoying for a long time. When you join like minded people you not only learn and get to share tips and tricks, but you expand your social circle which could lead to so many different possibilities. Maybe even a new partner if you happen to be on the lookout.

5. Take a new class.

Learn a new skill. Have you always wanted to learn ballroom dancing? Go join a class. You don’t always need a partner for these if you don’t have one. The instructor is usually more than happy to be your partner. Wish you were a better singer or dancer or painter? Find a class, join a group. Expand your horizons. Go and do more of the things you love.

Too many of us have dreams and interests and things that we absolutely love to do but just don’t get to do enough of them if any at all. Why don’t we? Why do we limit ourselves to work and home and work and home? What keeps us from getting out and learning, meeting and growing? We are the ones holding ourselves back. It’s time to break free and go enjoy life more. What you want, wants you too. We are here to be happy.

10 Law of Attraction Mistakes That People Make – And How To Fix Them (PART 2)

Months ago, I’ve written an article about 10 of the most common Law of Attraction mistakes that I’ve found people were making. Since then, I’ve discovered 10 more blunders that are crucial to be corrected if you’d like to succeed in manifesting your desires effectively.

So are you making any one of these mistakes with the Law of Attraction? Take a look at the list below. (It starts with Mistake #11 because Part One already covers Mistakes #1 to 10.)

Five-Forgotten-rules-Law-of-AttractionMistake # 11: They Are Too Specific.

They make their affirmations or intentions too specific to the point that they don’t feel good about it.

Fix It: Yes, a specific intention or affirmation is effective, but only to the point that you feel good about it. If it doesn’t make you feel good or comfortable in any way, make it a little more general. Still doesn’t feel right? Make it a little more general again. Do this until you feel no conflict arising within you.

For example, you say that you want a loving spouse with blue eyes, lean body, thin lips and drives a Porsche. If it feels right for you, then you’re on the right track. But for most people, a statement this specific might conjure the feeling they’re not worthy or it’s very unlikely to happen. If this is the case, make it more general. How about a financially stable and attractive spouse who understands your needs?

There’s no right or wrong here. Your yardstick is the way you feel. The better you feel about your statement, the more chances they will manifest into reality.

Mistake # 12: They Think About the ABSENCE Of What They Want.

They often think about what they want; but the more they think about it, the more they feel negative emotions because they realize it’s not yet in their current reality.

Fix It: Think about what you want in a state of fun and appreciation. Release the pressure that you should have it or your life would be miserable. Decrease resistance by letting it go and just say, “wouldn’t it be nice if I own that house (or other things)?” or “wouldn’t it be great if I become the president of this company?” Be playful and have fun with it. The more you practice this routine, the less resistant you will be to the attraction of your desires.

Mistake # 13: Their Dream Is Too Big To Be Believed In.

If a person making $3000 a month dreams of making $100,000 a month, it would be much more diffcult for him to achieve it because of cognitive dissonance. His mind doesn’t yet believe that he can achieve it.

Fix It: Take it one step at a time. In the example above, if he makes a goal of $5000 a month first (instead of $100,000), he will be more likely to achieve it because it is much more believable. And once he reaches that goal, it will boost his belief that he can make more… but only to the point in which he believes he can. So he could set up a higher goal of $10,000 this time. And once he attains it, he could raise it a little higher again.

Mistake # 14: They Get Stuck In A Negative Environment.

They may pray fervently, say their affirmations, or visualize all day; but they will never attract what they want because they live with negative thinkers, blamers or complainers… or because their surroundings reflect doom and gloom aspects that make them feel bad.

Fix It: The one vital component to manifesting your desires is to feel good. And you can never feel good (or will have an extremely difficult time doing it) if you live around negatve people or in a negative environment.

If you’re really serious to make the Law of Attraction work, you must avoid them like the plague. Stay away from people who make you feel depressed, guilty or angry. Switch jobs or live in another place if you have to.

Mistake # 15: They Don’t Have A Big Enough “Why.”

They say they want to have this or become that; but when you ask them why, they’re totally clueless. This lack of clarity translates to a weaker manifesting power.

Fix It:  Your “why” is the foundation of your desires. When you know why you want it, you will do almost anything to achieve it and you will most likely stick to your goals/rituals.

Mistake # 16: They’re Too Busy To Relax.

They call themselves “action takers” so they don’t want to waste time relaxing. What they don’t know is that being in a state of relaxation can put them in a better state of alignment or higher vibration… which translates to more powerful manifesting.

Fix It: Find some quiet time when you can meditate even for just 10 minutes. Focus on your breathing and when a thought comes, put your focus back to your breathing. This state of “no-mind” will help you reduce resistance.

Another great idea is to take a nap, or simply find some quiet time to bask in appreciation for all the wonderful things around you.

Mistake # 17: They Give “Negative” Attention To The Smallest Things.

When their child cries, they feel irritated. When there’s traffic, they feel frustrated. Everytime they feel negative emotion, they put themselves out of alignment with the Universe.

Fix It: Ignore the small stuff and just let it go. Even if you think it’s a big issue, you have the choice of treating it like any other small stuff. And here’s the big secret… everything is small stuff. So break free from every single thing that annoys you, move on, and focus on your desires.

Mistake # 18: They’re Not Careful With Their Words.

They use negative words in their everyday language without being aware that such statements are affecting their vibration. Statements such as “I’m so hungry I could die any minute now” or “That’s sick” may sound innocent for some, but the ‘essence’ of these words could get picked up by the subconscious, which may affect their vibration negatively.

Fix It: Always be aware of what you’re saying at any given moment, for they also affect your thoughts and feelings. Remember that words carry certain vibrations with them, so practice replacing negative words with positive ones (that make you feel good and think good thoughts) in your everyday language.

Mistake # 19: They See The “Dark Side” Of Everything.

When they lose their job, they regard it as the end of the world. On the other hand, even if they get promoted, they dread the bigger responsibilities coming ahead instead of the exciting challenges this might offer. .

And this applies to even the smallest aspects of their lives. When they travel anywhere, they don’t see the beautiful scenaries and appreciate the wonderful journey; they see the bumps on the road, the traffic, or the cost of the trip.

This constant bombarding of negative feelings and vibrations will only bring them more of the things they’re complaining about, which will only make them feel worse and worse.

Fix It: Find the positive side in everything, even in those things and situations that may seem negative. If you lose your job, see it as an opportunity to get a better career. If you live alone, see it as an opportunity to be free and do whatever you want. Or if you live with people who give you a hard time, see it as a chance to develop your character as well as theirs. By giving out positive vibrations through your outlook in life, you’ll start attracting more of the things that you like.

Mistake # 20: They Don’t Improve Themselves.

They stay in their comfort zone. They are not motivated to improve their way of thinking, feeling, or attitude. Hence, they’re stuck in a rut.

Fix It: You will always remain in the same condition if you stay in the same vibrational frequency. To see changes in your life, you must aim for continuous improvement – in your thoughts, feelings, attitude, behavior, action, knowledge, the way you see things, and even your response/reaction to every situation. It doesn’t need to be a drastic one-time improvement. Aim to improve in one tiny aspect everyday, and after a few years, you would have become a much better manifestor in every way.

Go through the list once again and find out if you’re making any of these law of attraction mistakes. If you are, fix it immediately and be the powerful attractor you’re meant to be.

Maybe you make a mean chicken loaf. Who knows? It doesn’t matter. What matters is that we are all gifted with amazing qualities and skills. Acknowledge yours.

Exactly the way you are. You are smart enough, good enough , beautiful enough, funny enough, you get the idea. Whatever you have to offer your family, friends or the world, is exactly enough. What you offer, no one else can because no one is you. Your offerings are unique to you and it is enough for someone.

3. Someone admires you more than you know.

If you ever thought you weren’t beautiful enough, there is another person who looks at you and thinks you are absolutely gorgeous. If you think you aren’t interesting, there is a person out there who hangs on every word you say an d gets what you’re talking about. They love listening to you and you may even be inspiring them. If you have any insecurities about any part of you, remember that someone somewhere adores you.

4. Let’s talk.

The best way to deal with the ugly green monster may very well be to talk it out with the person you are feeling this jealousy towards. This will be easy if it’s a friend, family member or maybe even a co-worker. Talking things out is always number one on the list of tips of tricks to deal with a negative situation. When you talk to the person you are feeling jealous towards they may give you a totally different perspective, one you never thought about, and your jealousy will quickly dissipate.

5. Write it out.

Whenever you have any sort of toxic or negative energy buried inside of you, the first thing you should do is look at ways to release it. Whether it be talk to somebody about it, talk to yourself about it or maybe even journal about it. Whichever method you choose, you definitely need to look at ways to get rid of it instead of it sitting and stewing in your heart, mind and soul and wreaking havoc.

Holding on to any kind of toxicity does you no good. The only person you are harming is yourself. It is of the utmost importance to figure out ways to release toxic energy as soon as it appears. Find out where it’s coming from, deal with it and let it go. It may not be easy, bu t it is certainly not impossible and absolutely necessary. We are here to live a life of joy, not misery.
