California’s Eastern Sierra mountains bathed in dappled sunrise storm light, as seen from fields of sage and rabbitbrush in the Owens Valley, autumn 2015. It’s no wonder, with the bright granite and dramatic east-facing profile of these peaks, that John Muir dubbed this the “Range of Light”. To anyone familiar with Galen Rowell’s images, this type of scene will be familiar – obviously I was inspired by him here!
