Home to Iceland’s wildest, most extreme scenery, the vast, empty interior can be accessed only by four-wheel-drive vehicles. It’s mostly uninhabitable volcanic deserts with beautiful oasis-like areas in between, like this one here

Seljalandsfoss by GEMCAM by GEMCAM

When we went to Seljalandsfoss for the first time, it was so heavily raining, I didnt even take my camera along. Already in Gulfoss weather was forecasted to bring a nice sunset at the coast, so we headed back in a two hour drive. I was hoping to take a classic picture. When we arrived there was nice sun and no rain, and hardly anyone – just this (tiny) couple. However heavy winds made the waterfall jumping around making everything wet – camera, cloth and lukily also everything else with nice reflections and contrast. Enjoy!

The Wanderer by erax7 by erax7

Canon 6d Tamron 15-30mm F2.8 at F3.2 15mm ISO 6400 25s. Single image – no compositing or exposure blending and not even my usual panorama.

From my previous image – Finding my way again – I went back to the dunes. I arrived before it got dark this time and managed to do an amount of scouting for compositions. Armed with visibility and a GPS I worked out a number of suitable locations and used photopills (app) to help with some of the visualisation.

I prefer crescent moon lighting, but if I don’t have that – I will build the light. I was experimenting with a new setup this time. Will blog about it soon in more detail.
