A world we once knew by JayDaley by JayDaley

I’m jumping forward in my South American images to mix things up a little. This one is from Glacier Grey in the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, just west of the Cordillera del Paine where we had spent the past week and a bit trekking through and exploring.

It’s hard to comprehend how big this glacier is (the kayaker in the bottom right will help to give it some scale) not just in the sheer magnitude of the ice face but also in the land coverage – at last account this ice field reportedly covered some 270 square km of land.

What is even harder to comprehend is just how much bigger it was. It’s retreat in recent years is nothing short of terrifying and heart breaking – there’s every possibility that our children may never see these incredible scenes.

The world today is changing and quickly becoming a world we once knew.

Spring Closure by jaychong by jaychong

The sure sign that the bay area is nearing it’s end of spring is when all the hills turn brown.

A Walk along Rushup Edge by BillGoodwin1 by BillGoodwin1

Trying to find Mam Tor for the sunrise, I’m half asleep and take the wrong path. A nice pleasant surprise looking back towards Mam Tor from Rushup Edge.

Mesa Arch by piriya by piriya

One of the most famous scene in Utah! Mesa Arch in Canyonlands. Although it gets too crowd in the past years, but I enjoy seeing how the nature created such a beautiful combination between light, sun, and rocks.
