A Road Less Traveled by fzaidi by fzaidi

While visiting my siblings in the East Bay, I have come across this section of the road numerous times and every time I used to wonder its photographic potential. One day, as I was returning during a sunset, I saw a burn happen above it and I was so bummed to have missed it that the next day, I made sure to return at sunset through the same section. There were some clouds in the sky, but not expected to burn. Nevertheless I took shots for about an hour as it got dark and returned to my car. While putting the bag in the car, I noticed the color of the clouds changing. I recalled that it was around the time when the full moon was going to rise. I placed my tripod to take some shots to share this moon burn with friends but it seemed like the color was spreading to other parts of the sky. I ran to my original spot with my equipment and shot for another 10-15 minutes before the color neutralized again. I had just witnessed my first proper moon burn!

Glory of the Mountains by yanzhang by yanzhang

Due to the bad weather, we had to leave Darran Mountains in Fiordland earlier than our plan, and drove to Mount Cook, where there was a better chance to get a one or two days weather window. We had to wait a whole day in Unwin Hut until the weather settled down the next day. Then we started our two-day trip to this high mountain location.

A spectacular sunset occurred on the first evening during our two-days camping in this mountain location. I found the edge between the twin tarns provided a very appealing leading line in this composition, while the far away Mount Cook summit and other mountain peaks illustrated such beautiful mountain surroundings.

Some technical information for this photo: this is a single exposure, and one 2-stop GND Soft Lee filter and a 105mm LB+W Singh Ray CPL filter are used.
