The Eye by hoobie by hoobie

One of the most amazing locations I’ve been given a chance to shoot at :D! Yes, whoever’s been there knows exactly what I’m talking about :). The coastline near a little village of Uttakleiv is full of rocks, stones and many different formations you could use to capture interesting image. Even when the weather plays around and doesn’t want to cooperate or you have a couple of minutes left to take a shot (same as I did due to heavy rainfall approaching from the right), you’re able to find THE RIGHT SPOT to show the beauty of the place :).
Today, I’d like to introduce you a famous “Eye Of Uttakleiv” :). Quite interesting spot… :D!

Risen from the Water by mattdemoraes by mattdemoraes

Amsterdam is a stunning city. Almost every turn leads to a bridge over the canal system, and every bridge has a beautiful story to tell. My adventure in the city was a brief one, spent with my favourite travel companion and excellent photographer Nadia Schweimler (she is on 500px too – check her out). This is another of my infra-red photographs taken around the world and shared with you exclusively on 500px. I hope you enjoy them.

Strawberry Milkshake by dss1960 by dss1960

I left after work to head up to Mount St. Helens. The wildflowers are at peak bloom. I stopped at a local fast food place to grab a burger and fries. As I pulled into the parking lot, I saw a homeless man. So, I did what I normally do. I drove around to the other side of the restaurant.

But, there wasn’t a door over there so I had to go back. As I walked to the door, the homeless man approached and asked if I would buy him a strawberry milkshake. I gave him the customary smile and head nod and then ducked inside the door.

As I stood in line, I rationalized how many homeless could get out of their situation but choose not to help themselves. Some are pushy and intimidating. Many are drug addicts and in and out of jail.

But, I just kept thinking that there’s another human being out there in record breaking heat. And he just wants a strawberry milkshake. So, I ordered one. Just as I turned to leave, I ran into the man. I gave him the milkshake and said it was for him. His face lit up as he told me he didn’t think anyone would buy him one. I looked him in the eye and wished him a good day. And, then I left.

I’m not looking for a compliment. Usually, I don’t make eye contact with the homeless, let alone buy them food or carry on a short conversation. But, maybe I can do better from here on out.
