Fire in the Sky by tom_blumer by tom_blumer

Wonderful evening sky over Santa Barbara. The colors are more intense during winter months, so I can’t wait to see this soon again…

Factory Window by Pcoskun by Pcoskun

I am often seeking new and unique compositions on relatively popular locations, and I have a fascination with arches framing subjects. While wandering around the incredible landscapes surrounding factory butte, I came across this small arch, perhaps two feet wide and tall, with a perfect view of the butte itself. I had found this composition the evening before, and kept note of it’s location for sunrise. Luckily, the sunrise was quite nice allowing the butte to turn various shades of red before the sun finally made it’s way above the horizon. The small window was catching some of the warm glow and added a nice contrast to the butte in the distance. This was one of my most productive mornings photographing the southwest, and came away with a handful of images from just this location. Truly one of the gems of the great southwest!

SHELLFISH BANKS… by magdaindigo by magdaindigo

Tour of Europe 04 2016
Day 10
Over the Locks of Haringvliet, we leave the mainland of South Holland and get onto the delta island of Goeree-Overflakkee, the southernmost of the province of South Holland in the Netherlands.
I spot these nettings, and , yes, this is another drive-by shot!
We ARE back on the road!
Shellfish reefs are almost disappeared from the North Sea, while in places with shellfish beds natural wealth is twice as high as in places without shellfish banks.
Shellfish are food for fish and birds. They provide shelter and serve as a rest area and breeding ground for small and large invertebrates. Give guidance to underwater plants, filtering seawater cleaner and contribute to coastal protection.
The presence of shellfish banks there is more to enjoy under and above water for people and nature.
The World Wildlife Fund and the flag of the Dream Fund are working on the project for the return of shellfish beds in the Delta.
It seems to me, that over the years we have damaged so many things, some irreversible, some ahhhh well, we try try to restore, at great cost.
In my life, I think long and hard before I make big decisions! Damage control!
Thanx for your visits and comments, M, (*_*)

Lights of Riomaggiore by MichaelBlanchette by MichaelBlanchette

Riomaggiore is the southermost village in Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is located in a small valley in the Laguria region of Italy. The village dates to the early 13th century, best known for its seaside beauty, historic character and wines produced in the town’s vineyards. This photo was taken at dusk on an evening in May.
