The Marmore falls is a waterfall flow controlled, among the highest in Europe, relying on a gradient of 165 m, divided into three jumps. It is about 7.5 km away from Terni, in Umbria, near the end of the Valnerina, the long Valley carved out by the river Nera. The name comes from calcium carbonate salts present on the rocks that are similar to white marble.
The waters of the waterfall are exploited intensively to produce electricity. This causes the actual waterfall is not continuously working, but most of the time is reduced to the size of a stream. The basin of Piediluco Lake serves as a reservoir for the power plant, built in 1929, able to produce electricity with a power of about 530 MW.
To adjust the operation of the plant and to allow vision at all, at different times and periods defined, the waterfall is operated at full capacity: beep signals the opening of the floodgates of adjustment, and within minutes the flow rate increases up to the maximum

Reynisdrangar Sea Stacks by sorstrommen by sorstrommen
Legend says that the stacks originated when two trolls dragged a three-masted ship to land unsuccessfully and when daylight broke they became needles of rock.
Contemporary legends note the story of a husband who found his wife taken by the two trolls, frozen at night. The husband made the two trolls swear to never kill anyone ever again.
His wife was the love of his life, whose free spirit he was unable to provide a home for; she found her fate out among the trolls, rocks, and sea at Reynisfjara.
Hope you enjoy it! 🙂
