The Traveling Moai
Etwa 100 Meter abseits steht ein unscheinbarer Moai der aussieht als würde er der großen Tongariki-Anlage den Rücken zukehren und “schmollen”. Dieser Moai hat aber eine ganz interessante Geschichte: Es ist einer der Moai´s, den Thor Heyerdahl bei Transportexperimenten von Insulanern hat bewegen lassen. Dabei wurde dieser an der Basis etwas beschädigt. Außerdem ist er der einzige Moai, der die Osterinsel für eine lange Reise verlassen hat und wieder zurückgekehrt ist. Er “durfte” sich während der Weltausstellung in Osaka zeigen. Danach wurde er wieder auf die Osterinsel gebracht und am Tongariki wieder aufgestellt. Seither trägt dieser Moai auch den Spitznamen “The Traveling Moai”.

The second lighthouse during our Brittany trip, A little climb down and a lovely sight at the lighthouse. The sun does not sink straight at the back of the lighthouse. So you need a very colourful one to get it right
