Light in Glencoe by joshua181jvn by joshua181jvn

The last evening light shines in the valley of Glencoe, the most beautiful place in Scotland. I have never been more overwhelmed by a landscape…

Fugue by snyder7 by snyder7

I just released a new tutorial video, where you can see how I process one of my most popular shots “Road To Perdition”, you can check it out on my website under Tutorial Videos

Second Beach on the Olympic Coast, is one of my favorite places to shoot. Except that I mostly shoot here for sunset, and only once I shot at sunrise. My preference is to shoot straight into the light for mood and drama, and so when on the west coast, that happens for sunset and in the caribbean, where I’ve shot the past two winters, is the opposite, of course.

This was shot a few minutes after sunrise, while leading a workshop last summer, and I brought my student here for sunrise, and I was very pleasantly surprised of the amazing light show that we got, combined with tide pools which offered an added element for creative exploration.

Your comments are highly encouraged and welcomed. Thank you!

Castle in the Sky by PerriSchelat by PerriSchelat

This is a classic composition of Castle Mountain reflecting in the Bow River. What I love about this image, is it really captures the essence of the “golden hour”, when the land is illuminated by a golden, soft, almost glowing, warm light, just as the sun drops below the mountains before sunset. I also really enjoy the symmetry of this scene. The clouds in the sky balance the clouds in the water very nicely. The right hand trees balance the left hand foreground rock and keeps my eye in the center of the image. To me its just a feel good image. Thanks for looking.
