Moeraki Motions | Moeraki Boulders, New Zealand | May 2016

I challenged myself to photograph these boulders with a new perspective. With so many other photographers it proved to be difficult. Another problem were the colors of the sunset, there was a huge system coming from the west and made the colors of sunset funky. It was my first time to see purple and magenta clouds.

Here is my take and hope I presented something unique. I made a little light bleed, dodge and burning with soft glow for added impact.

Took this during an exploring session towards Liwa, didn’t had too much time as moon was about to rise since the light pollution was less was able to capture rising Moon & Milky way in 1 frame…
Well my windows had a very old background image & was thinking to change it for long but didn’t find any suitable image but looks like now I did

Here’s the Milky Way in all its glory over the town of Springdale, just outside of Zion NP. Springdale has been working to reduce their overall light pollution with a dark sky ordinance and it’s definitely working! For those in Kanab, I’m giving a presentation on night photography on Wed, May 10th at 7PM at Zion’s Bank. I was with a client while taking this shot at 2AM when a police officer showed up and asked us what we were doing. We told him we were just photographing the Milky Way and then he asked if what we were doing was legal. We responded in the affirmative but had a good laugh about it later.
