I was lucky enough to finally make it up to the Dalles Mountain Ranch a few weeks back and man was it worth the trip! My fiance Kelcee was a trooper and got up at the crack of dawn to meet up with Justin and Rami to shoot one of the best blooms I can remember. Make sure to check out their photos; they absolutely killed it! (I’m honestly not sure why I bothered processing this hah).

This is a perspective blend using two different focal lengths. This shot can be acheived using a long lens and one focal length as well- all personal preference. Any who hope you guys enjoy this one!

Island Peaks by PaulZizkaPhoto by PaulZizkaPhoto

I’m sure many landscape photographers can relate to the story behind this one. It was such a dreary day out, but I was determined to get out no matter what, because it had been a little while since I had spent some time in the field.
The more I climbed through the forest, the more I thought “why do I bother?”, as the clouds grew thicker and the drizzle turned to rain. But for some reason, I kept putting a foot in front of the other and tried hard to keep my expectations low, very low. At least I’m getting some good exercise out of this…
As I got to the highest point of the mountain, I realized I had climbed through an inversion. Just barely – I stood perhaps 50 metres above the clouds. And in front of me unfolded a version of Mount Rundle unlike anything I had seen before. The clouds rushed around it like a river, and directly above it shone a solar halo.
All that to say: bad weather often has the potential to lead to conditions that are a lot more unique than does pleasant weather. Most of the time you’ll come home with macro/abstract images of tree branches and lichen, but once in a while, you’ll get lucky.

Quando cala la notte a Manarola il paesaggio diventa magico, con le luci dell’antico borgo marinaro che si accendono e si riflettono nel blu del mare ligure

When night falls in Manarola the landscape becomes magical, ancient fishing village with lights that turn on and are reflected in the blue of the Ligurian sea
