Valley View – Yosemite National Park by Darvin by Darvin

Cool and refreshing a snow storm blows through Yosemite leaving the valley dusted in a white powder. El Capitan and Bridal Veil, the guardians of the Valley reflect in the smooth still waters of the Merced River. Just as afternoon light begins to break and blue skies make the reflections perfection.

Still Dancing by Nicola_Pirondini by Nicola_Pirondini

Hi everybody, this is a beautiful situation I witnessed last summer on the dolomites, during a 3 day trip on the alps. Here you can see (well, not really but , lol) the famous “Tre Cime di Lavaredo” on the right and on the left the stunning Mt. Paterno. The scenery and situation were really amazing, with the clouds dancing through the peaks and the moonlight shining through. You may have seen this shot some time ago, I decided to give it a fix because I was not fully satisfied. Hope you enjoy the new version!

Assumptions never lead to anything good. Let’s say for example, you had been shooting a few shots of the stars with appropriate focus and didn’t like your composition. Then perhaps, you decided you’d try a different composition that you much preferred and on the back of the LCD, things were looking great. You assume that the focus did not change but somehow it did and when you get home, the preferred images in lightroom are all softly out of of focus. For arguments sake, you perhaps pretend that you did this intentionally for effect. Oh, this has nothing to do with this photograph of course ……

OK I lied – this did happen and I ended up having a soft foreground and using a star image from just prior to this actual shot being taken – the foreground lighting was from an electric candle and predawn light. An excuse to head back another time for a sharper version!
