Arisen by JayDaley by JayDaley

It had been a breathtaking sunrise for us at las Torres.

I had heard ramblings the night before of the pilgrimage many trekkers make to these towers just to witness their spectacular transformation at sunrise. I was puzzled because the location wasn’t exactly an easy destination.

Being fortunate enough to see this location in the right conditions is an absolute rarity and, it seemed, were amongst the lucky few.

I’m not really sure if I have seen anything like this before. A sense of scale here is so quickly lost, the lake in front of me spans almost 1.5km to the base of these three unbelievably big towers and the valley around me is just immense.

Then it happened – the sun crept through the valley behind me and, as if scripted, these three towers transformed to a bright red whilst everything around them remained in shadow.

This was mind blowing!

The incredibly beautiful Mt Cook complimented by a frozen over Hooker Valley Lake. We spent a good 4 hours here in the morning just soaking it up.

This is a 5 image stack with the rainbow frame captured over Fox Glacier.

05:21 Rice fields in Longsheng by famasse by famasse

05:21 Rice fields in Longsheng
The terraced fields are built along the slope winding from the riverside up to the mountain top, between 600 m to 800 m above sea level.[1] A coiling terrace line that starts from the mountain foot up to the mountain top divides the mountain into layers of water in spring, layers of green rice shoots in summer, layers of rice in fall, and layers of frost in winter. The terraced fields were mostly built about 650 years ago.

In early June, water is pumped over the rice paddies and young plants are transferred to the main terraces.
