Whitecliffs Walkway
New Zealand

I found this spot through reading a great handbook called NZ frenzy. It is a great read to discover less visited parts of the country. This image was taken on a grey overcast morning where I started off in the dark. I hoped my interpretation of the tide tables was for a receding tide as the black sand beach was barely visible with waves reaching the base of the cliff. Even in the dark , there was a glow from a few locations along the cliffs where trickles of streams toppled over the edge. The image is taken of a small waterfall (flow would have been like a brisk shower) with many frames taken for the water receding back . If the swell was any more than its gentle height that morning, I doubt I would have come out to this spot about 500-600m from the nearest ‘escape’ back ashore. It is possible to keep walking from here up to Tongaporutu and the three sisters. Thank you to the FB members for the input on this shot (you know who you are 😉
