The ruins at Hampi, which was the capital city of the Vijayanagara empire, are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The empire of Vijayanagara was one of the richest and largest cities in the world from the 13th to 17th century. It is still a magical place with beautiful landscapes rocks, boulders and palm trees and impressive ruins of temples, palaces and shrines.
