A friend is a single soul dwelling in two bodies

– Aristotle.

It is an empowering feeling when we make a deep and meaningful connection with another person- someone whom you recognize as part of your tribe. There is an almost instantaneous mutual understanding; we can confide in these people, and trust them with most intimate details of our lives. These are the people we can truly relax and be ourselves around, who understand and accept us for who we are- the people we turn to during our darkest days, and the first ones we call on to raise a glass with during our greatest accomplishments. These are the people who inspire us to be the very best version of ourselves; we laugh together, cry together, live as one.

In today’s social media driven world, our ability to form meaningful and lasting relationships with people is deteriorating. Is social media actually healthy for society? Is it beneficial for young people to use social media? I’m not so sure.

Some time ago I took the decision to delete my online social media accounts, and I received some interesting reactions from certain people in my social circle. Some were shocked, others concerned. People actually thought there was something wrong with me. Maybe I was depressed or sick, or I was just being weird. Others congratulated me as if it was a feat of great strength, saying how they would never be able to do it.

There are many reasons why I decided to break free from the shackles of social media, but mostly, I found it to be detrimental to my relationships and my general well-being, while bringing on unnecessary anxiety, peer pressure and stress. Not to mention, it was a huge waste of time.

The depth of information that people share nowadays is vast and although a lot of it is useless, harmless, cringe worthy nonsense, sometimes you come across posts that can be harmful, disturbing and/or intrusive.

Old classmates, childhood friends, old girlfriends, distant relatives, even complete strangers, make up some of the many hundreds of ‘friends’ in our network. Through social media you know absolutely everything about these people; you’ve been inside their home without ever stepping foot inside the door, you’ve been to their wedding without an invitation, you’ve gone with them on holiday, you’ve watched their children grow, you’ve seen them at concerts that you haven’t been to, you’ve met their new boyfriend or girlfriend, you share in their problems, apprehensions, successes and failures.

You’ve shared in these peoples most intimate moments and you’ve seen them at their most vulnerable, you’ve voyaged with them through important stages of their lives, and yet, if you saw them on the street would you even stop to say hello?

Some of the most memorable moments in life come from meeting new people and making new friends, but social networks are holding us back significantly in this regard. They create a barrier when we meet new people. Instead of starting a conversation with someone, we would rather look for their profile online and message them. How often have you gone to a party, or gone out for coffee or drinks with friends, and you see everyone immersed in their smartphones, rather than enjoying each other’s company. These websites restrict creativity and encourage procrastination, and can even be damaging to one’s confidence and general happiness. These social network sites are, by their very nature, grossly antisocial.

One can only stand to benefit from if not separating themselves, then at least distancing themselves from social media, thus improving all aspects of their lives; physical and mental health, happiness, relationships, work, studies and everything else in between.

Shut down your laptop, turn off your tablet, put your phone away, and get out there! Say hello to a stranger. Ask that crush out for coffee. Try something new- step outside your comfort zone,. Love and cherish your family and friends and let them know daily how much you appreciate them. Strengthen and nurture your relationships, and take the first steps towards building some new ones.

If your partner doesn’t complain about your sanitary issues, it doesn’t mean they enjoy your self-disrespectful signs.

In this article, I’ll show you a few ways how poor hygiene may negatively impact your life in a couple. I’ll also give you the solution how to fix that sanitary issue.

5 Poor hygiene issues that may affect building a relationship

Bad breath

Bad breath and relationships are like oil and water: they don’t mix.

A relationship is built on trust. You earn that trust when there is fresh breath while you kiss your girlfriend. It’s different when she feels the bad breath coming out of your mouth when you whisper tender words at her year.

It may turn her off. The result is less kisses and face to face conversations. The relationship is becoming colder.

The solution:

You can fix bad breath issue by having better oral hygiene.

This personal hygiene issue keeps your honey away from you. Not because she hates you, but because she can’t resist the fish smell your body releases.

This definitely turns her off.

Don’t make it hard for her to kiss, hug or be around you. This will extinguish the fire in your relationship.

The solution:

You need to understand that the skin on your body constantly produces sebum. If you don’t wash it off, it releases unpleasant smells.

The fix is very simple.

Take showers more often. Take one or two showers per day and this will keep your body fresh and clean. Your honey will enjoy the fresh smell of your body.

Poor condition of your body

The conventional wisdom says that loving someone means accepting his imperfections. Though I agree with this to some extent, I don’t think you should accept weak characters.

The body condition speaks a lot about your character. Gaining weight, losing skin glow or body odors are your weakness. This isn’t something your partner could be proud of.

If you accept the defeat without fighting, you aren’t a good life partner. Your couple mate can’t rely on you in challenging circumstances.

Here is the deal.

If you want to maintain the relationship earn the trust of your couple mate. Show your self-esteem and confidence. Begin with your body.

The solution:

Maintaining your body in good shape is a little more complex than the above hygiene habits. It requires exercising, proper dieting, and reducing eating portions. This lifestyle will improve the physical appearance of the body.

When you love how you feel in your own body you may proceed to the next secret tip. Groom your body and improve your dressing style. That’ll make you look attractive and confident as James Bond.

There are many ways to improve your physical appearance, but it’s best to start with your body.

Unkempt house

“When a flower doesn’t bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower.”

A relationship is like a flower. It blooms if it’s built in a clean and hygienic home. After all, it’s the place where your couple spends most of the time.

Few people know that viruses and bacteria can live for a long time on a variety of surfaces. A multitude of microorganisms is swarming on clothing, computer keyboard, in the pile of the carpet or couch, on the table, on the floor, on the walls, and in the air.

For a person with strong immunity, this isn’t dangerous, but if the natural defense weakens these microorganisms may cause health issues.

Living in a clean environment reduces many health risks, infections, and diseases.

The solution:

The best way to protect yourself and your couple mate is to live in a hygienic environment. Make your home a safe place from microbes, viruses and infections.

To maintain the sanitary condition of your home do the following:

  • Clean the dust in every single room of your home with a wet cloth.
  • Open the windows to ventilate your home.
  • Open the blinds to let the sunlight in.

A hygienic environment is the safest environment where a relationship can bloom and thrive.

Personal hygiene is the foundation of a healthy family

Hygiene isn’t only about your health. It is also about the health of family and friends.

Your poor hygiene may hurt your girlfriend’s well-being. This inevitably hurts your relationship as well.

A relationship is, first of all, a responsibility. It’s in your hands to build a healthy relationship. Make your friends and family feel comfortable in your company. Let them feel safe and protected with you.

Take care of your hygiene to maintain health, but most important do it for your family.

Make it easy for your girlfriend to love you.
