These two houses caught my attention when I visited Lofoten last winter. As I was waiting for the right light, my mind kept spinning around how it would be to live here 30-40-50 years ago. Although I’m born and raised in northern Norway myself, it was a totally different situation back then. It must have been a though life, beeing dependent on the harvest from the small fields, maybe a few sheep and of course the fisheries, which provided not only for the population here, but was the definitely largest income for the country until we found oil. Since years I visit the Lofoten in Norway once or twice a year. In all this journeys I only once witnessed the Lofoten without wind and in ultimative calm conditions. On that journey I slept on the top the Reinebringen for 2 nights and enjoyed the beauty of the Lofoten. This is the view to calm bay in the northwest. I’ll never forget this moment right after midnight.

Undiscovered spots are always beautiful to explore. That time I’ve been so lucky to find myself in that place, it seemed that nobody had ever been there before me, everything was wild and untouched, and I felt myself being part of that wilderness while taking this shot.
