Miserable beauty

I don’t need a reason to appreciate this amazing planet but, I have been fortunate enough to find a way to appreciate it. Photography has been my pathway to some beautiful corners of the world and as a photographer I have come to appreciate that, often, the world can be it’s most spectacular when the weather is at it’s most unpleasant.

It was our last morning in Torres Del Paine national park. We would shortly be leaving to cross the border into Argentina and I was back at Lake Pehoe waiting for sunrise.

The weather was miserable. It was raining and the clouds were low and thick with Los Cuernos almost completely obscured. With sunrise almost gone I was sitting on a cliff underneath my rain jacket questioning my sanity when I started to see a slow break in the clouds.

Miserable is beautiful.

A 1/2 mile long river of lava flows swiftly and silently from a new breakout at Pu‘u ‘O‘o, a vent on Kilauea’s east rift zone. The stark contrast between the black of the surrounding crust, and oranges and reds of the river is so visually captivating… totally mesmerizing to witness in person.

ah the title… an ode to the wife, first frame that includes her on my photos her on 500px.

She has been my girlfriend for 14 years, married the last 11. This woman is the most beautiful, hot, sexy and smartest co-guide that offers to carry my tripod.

Ok Ok that was a joke stop dont hit me with that tripod…. LOL. the hot part is real though hahahaha
