When it comes to weddings, there are many ways for a couple to personalize their special day. One approach is to feature their beloved four-legged friends in the pictures. While dogs are common, there are plenty of cat lovers who wish that they could have their favorite feline in their wedding photos. Photographer Marianna Zampieri is making this happen for lucky couples in Italy; she snaps portraits of newlyweds with their cats, incorporating formal attire with fur and whiskers.

“The idea of creating post-wedding photoshoots with cats came to me when, in April of last year, I got married,” Zampieri tells My Modern Met. She and her partner had a “very intimate ceremony,” sans photographer. They arranged a series of self-portraits instead. “I would not have endured the idea that in the pictures of the most important day of my life there was not Arthur, my beloved cat,” she recalls. “So I took a series of photos with him to capture that moment as self-portraits.”

Zampieri’s wedding photoshoot ideas have caught on with her friends. One couple wanted to incorporate their three cats in their big day, but they knew it would be too difficult for the creatures; Zampieri explains, “too much emotion, too much confusion and too many people present for animals so habitual.” So a week post-wedding, she traveled to her friends’ home and photographed them—dressed in their same attire—with their three kitties. A feline’s temperament can be unpredictable, but during Zampieri’s session, each cat was on its best behavior. “In particular, Perla, the beautiful white cat, had a lot of fun with the various layers of tulle of the wedding dress, so that we found it always lying on the long train!”

How to Get Over A Bad Day

It starts with spilling your coffee, then you lock your keys in the car, and now you are late for work. It’s not even 9 a.m. and you have already told yourself that you are having a bad day. At this point, it would almost take a miracle for you to see this day any other way.

Sound familiar?

The negative thought pattern that gets created when a few things go wrong can blister into a long-term, self-fulfilling prophecy if you aren’t careful. It can be very difficult to break that cycle. Left unbroken, it can leave you feeling depressed and overwhelmingly unhappy for days.

So, how to get over a bad day?

Recognize the Thoughts

It’s easy to take a series of unfortunate events as signs of a bad day. And once you give in to that thought, you have effectively taken away any alternative and your day will surely be bad.

It can take some work, but try making a conscious effort to recognize the tone of your thoughts. Are you thinking in negative terms?

There are physical cues that can go along with this as well. For a minute, consider what your body is doing.

Are your shoulders tensed? Are your brows furrowed? Is your jaw clenched?

These are all physical manifestations of the tension that negativity breeds. If you recognize these signs, stop yourself and force those muscles to relax. You will feel an immediate difference.

Consider Your Feelings

Negative thoughts trigger negative emotions. Anger, frustration, irritation, anxiety, and sadness can consume you when you are thinking negatively. Those feelings have a way of pushing happiness and satisfaction to the back-burner, leaving you an anxious, angry wreck.

Ask yourself what you are feeling.

Identifying your emotions gives you control over them rather than letting them have control over you. Once you have identified what you are feeling, you can start taking actions.

Identify Your Behavior

If you have already decided you are having a bad day, then you are likely to be anticipating all the other things that could go wrong.

How can this affect your behavior?

Quite possibly, you’ll be walking in an aggressive manner, responding defensively to those around you, and becoming inordinately irritated with everything you encounter. If ever you find yourself behaving in such way, stop.

Take a deep breath and recognize your thoughts. Think about your feelings and make an effort to change them. For sure, your behavior will follow.

Even just forcing a smile and saying something nice to someone can have positive effects. Purposefully changing your approach to those around you and making a direct effort to be positive can reverse your negative thinking and cycle. Additionally, acts of kindness toward others can release endorphins, which can help you regain a positive outlook.

Reset

Take a deep breath and give yourself a do-over. Get a fresh cup of coffee or tea and find the positive things in your environment. Smile even if no one is looking and move forward. If you need to, remind yourself that a couple of bad moments do not make up a day. By letting them color your entire day or week, you have given them too much power.

When All Else Fails, Talk

Sometimes we just need to vent. If you are having a hard time putting yourself back into a positive space, try talking to someone. A friend or a family member that you trust will likely understand how you are feeling.

Bad days happen to all of us. They are fairly normal experiences for most people. The problem is that many of us get sucked into a negative way of thinking, which can be hard to escape from. Following the suggestions above can help you avoid getting stuck in that depressive cycle.

Our appearance says a lot about us, whether we like it or not. There’s more to it than just having a great face. How we appear to others is a reflection of our energy, goals, and intentions.

Humans are expressive and emotional creatures. We communicate through words and emotions.

Our words may hide our true feelings, but it’s nearly impossible for facial expressions to do the same. Our eyes, cheeks, mouth, brow bones, and even our ears can send signals to other people about what we are really thinking and feeling.

People can pick first impressions before we even know it. Whether it’s a job interview or a passing glance on the street, we can leave lasting impressions on people and not even realize it.

While it’s unreasonable to be primped and perfect at all times, good impressions can be made even on our worst days. Here’s how:

  • Don’t be afraid to speak in a clear, strong voice.
  • Present yourself as you’d like to be remembered.
  • And bonus – don’t overdo your hair.

Today, a lot of first impressions happen before two people even meet. Thanks to the internet, social media sites, and our collective lack of interest in privacy settings, it’s likely that the people you haven’t even met have a good idea of what kind of person you are.

  • A tasteful profile picture online goes a long way, especially on professional networking sites like LinkedIn.
  • Key aspects of anonymity online are melting away, so be careful what you post and where you post it.
  • Curating your social media accounts to fit your interests is a good first step to working on a personal brand.

A good rule of thumb to keep in mind for our online lives is to not post anything we wouldn’t want our boss to see.

Good Impressions Start From Within

With all of those things, please remember that beauty is only skin deep. No matter how much we groom ourselves, no amount of skincare products can disguise low self-esteem or a bad attitude. Being personable, kind, and mindful of others can get you much further than having a smooth face and great clothes.

  • Trends come and go. To make a positive impression try to adopt a timeless style.
  • Anyone can have a beautiful smile if it’s sincere. Having good teeth isn’t required to brighten someone’s day with a grin.
  • Having compassion for ourselves and our own mistakes can help us be more compassionate to others.

We all have our own moments of doubt, distress, and complete laziness. But what usually determines someone`s success or failure is your ability to stay motivated especially during their toughest times.  I`ve worked on this topic for years and below are some of the things you can do to stay motivated.

1. Work Your Negative Thoughts Out
Tony Robbins was right when he said the difference between you and success is the bullshit story you keep telling yourself. These limiting beliefs are keeping you in doubt and the only way to stay motivated is by exposing them to journaling and expressive writing. Studies have found that those who completed four weekly journaling sessions for eight weeks were less worried and more motivated, than those who didn`t.

2. Remove Performance Barriers
Tim Ferris has a simple learning technique that works like magic. Whenever you`re about to learn a skill or do something new, take some time to list all your reasons to quit.

Your goal, after identifying these barriers, is to complete the first five sessions of whatever you want to practice. Why five? Because that`s what your brain needs to create wirings for new habits.

3. Do Less of The Things That Aren`t Aligned With Your Goals
Sales mogul, Grant Cardone once shared a story about someone who worked with him at McDonald`s. Unlike Cardone who was only there for the money, this guy was super pumped to go to work. Why?Because his goal was to learn everything about the business and open his own McDonald`s franchises. Soon Cardone was fired and that dude went on to achieve his dream.

4. Create Necessity
Brendan Bouchard once asked a client, an Olympic sprinter, who he thought was going to win the race. And the man replied, “I will get on the guy who gets down at the blocks, looks at the finish line and says ‘I`ve got to do this for my mom.”

This is the power of WHY. Whenever you lack motivation, ask yourself why, or for whom, do you want to reach that goal. If you keep digging, you`ll always find something worth working hard for.

5. It`s like a bath
“People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.” – Zig Ziglar
You usually hear people saying, “I don`t feel motivated to chase my goals.” Well, maybe if you write them long enough you`ll eventually feel pumped to go after them.

You must commit to writing your goals at least once a day, every day regardless of how good or bad you feel because, at the end of the day, the quality of your life will come down to what you`ve chosen to pay attention to. So you`d better pay attention to something worthy.

When listing your goals, write down whatever makes you pumped. If “I`m making my first million before my 25th birthday” doesn`t motivate you, then think about listing all the things that you want to buy, or experience, when you make your first million. A trip to Italy, a courtside seat in a Lakers` game, spending X amount of dollars guilt-free…etc.

Forget about what others tell you goals should be, as long as the ones you`ve chosen make you feel excited then you`re good to go.

6. Get a Quick Jump on the Day

It`s much easier to change feelings with action that to do it the other way around. Why? Because you have more control over actions than over feelings. As William James once said, “By regulating the action, which is under the more direct control of the will, we can indirectly regulate the feeling.”
If there`s one nugget I want to leave you with then let this be it: Productivity comes before motivation and not the other way around. This is why you must start the day with a bang regardless of whether you`re an early bird or a night owl.

The quicker you start the day with a victory, the more motivated you`ll feel during the rest of it. So cut Facebook, meaningless texting or T.V., and focus all your efforts on getting something done.

Any sort of productivity, no matter how small. Just remember that once the ball starts rolling you`ll feel motivated to get more done. An object in motion will stay in motion, so sayeth the law.
